IOM-NTF/PfP Workshops

Cooperation between NTF project and NES branch offices
in Belgrade and Novi Sad regions - Belgrade, Novi Sad

Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Employment Service of Serbia (NES) at the end of June 2007, IOM and NES have organized a range of workshops aimed at presenting the project to managers of all NES branch offices as well as discuss with them the plans for concrete implementation. These workshops will further increase the cooperation between the NTF stakeholders facilitating the smooth integration of discharged defence personnel into civilian life.

Belgrade Workshop

The first two workshops were held in Belgrade on 12 December and Novi Sad on 18 December 2007. These workshops were attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development/Employment Sector, NES branch offices in the areas of Belgrade and Novi Sad, MoD Directorate for Resettlement and IOM-NTF team. In order to better show the opportunities offered by the project to link NTF beneficiaries and employers, those events included short presentations from project beneficiaries who found a job through the NTF assistance and are now moving towards a successful reintegration into civilian life.

Novi Sad Workshop

The workshops were also structured so that all participants were given the opportunity to discuss and propose concrete measures aimed at improving the cooperation between NES, IOM-NTF and Ministry of Defence. Conclusions from all these workshops will be gathered into instruction and distributed to all NES and NTF offices.

Events were also open to national and local media (press and TV) and they were given the opportunity to ask questions and to interview the participants.
